The Town of Canton is ecstatic to welcome back Champion Credit Union as the Presenting Sponsor for the 110th Canton Labor Day Festival.
CCU is actually the oldest credit union in the United States and is a not-for-profit banking co-op owned by members, not by Wall Street. For that reason, they have a long-standing history of providing financial benefits that banks can't even imagine. When Champion CU first opened, its name was chosen because many of the original members were employed at a nearby paper mill, Champion International. In fact, the original office was inside the paper mill as a convenience to the workers.
In 2000, Champion Credit Union eagerly began offering their services not only to the employees of the paper mill but also to the public. The credit union has grown from its humble beginnings to now serving over 20,000 members in Buncombe, Haywood, Jackson, Henderson, Madison, Swain, Graham, Macon, and Transylvania Counties of NC.We are still headquartered in downtown Canton, but have locations in Arden and Waynesville. They are about to open their first branch in West Asheville.
CCU is a vigorous supporter of the communities they serve--particularly Canton. Recently they donated $100,000 between nine county school systems. Visit www.championcu.com to learn more about CCUs great rates and acclaimed customer service. Also be sure to thank them for helping make the 110th Labor Day Festival possible. As a "celebration of all things made in Western North Carolina" we're happy to have CCU at the head of our table!
